DUFF 2025 – ANIMATED 16-20

Am I supposed to apologize

Laura Uzelac; NS Dubrava, Croatia

An animated music video that deeply explores the challenges of growing up. Through an emotional story and stunning visuals, it delves into the struggle with societal pressures, loneliness, restrictions, and fears—without the support of parental guidance. A powerful message wrapped in the art of movement and music.

“Very good animation, follows the song lyrics a bit too literally Music could have been interpreted with more freedom. Still, an animated film that deserves attention.”

Earth’s Shadows

Group; Escola Secundária Sá de Miranda, Braga, Portugal

Planet Earth is becoming increasingly more polluted and impossible to live on. The community gets together to take action and turn the planet into a more harmonious place.

“This experimental animated film speaks about the structural problems of contemporary society through a series of concepts. The rhythmic alternation of narration and drawings that appear and disappear on a black background creates a tempo that gradually builds and intensifies. The soundscape, interspersed with random strikes, consistently follows the chaos of the narrative. Brilliantly executed.”

Fox

Astrid Trifunović; Ambroz Haračić High School – Mali Lošinj, Croatia

In the silence of the forest, a den hides life. A gunshot, barking dogs — everything changes. But the story doesn’t end with death. She returns… not alone. In a mystical atmosphere, the spirit of a fox searches for what was lost. This wordless animation takes us into a world where instinct, loss, and love cross the boundaries of the visible.

“Very well done. Beautiful animation and a convincing portrayal of parental love.”

I found myself

Abdul Kadir; Open Camp, Portugal/Greece

Fatemeh, a woman from Iran, shares how food has played a crucial role in her life, helping her navigate and heal from traumatic experiences in this poignant short film.

“An interesting idea and underlying story, the animation is quite well executed although there are some minor technical flaws.”

Small town

Ajša Mahmutović; “Hasan Kikić” High School, Bosnia and Herzegovina

A film about memories. Memories are our return to the past, to those beautiful and less beautiful events, which would be forgotten and erased, if there were no memories.

“Animation and style are excellent. Very poetic and nostalgic…”
