DUFF 2025 – DOCUMENTARY 16-20

Decline

Mauro Vinyas, IES Lluis Vives, Spain

It is a visual journey through the imprint humanity has left on Earth. From natural splendor to the collapse caused by civilization, this short film poses an urgent reflection on the disconnect between the human species and its environment.

“An interesting, different film, atmospherically shot and frightening in its depiction of the conflict between nature and modern civilization. / Very simple but it stays with you. Excellent contrasts.”

Paths of love

Lucija Barišić, Blank Film Incubator, Croatia

Paths of Love is a poetic documentary that explores the many forms and stages of love through two deeply personal stories. Blending observational street scenes, stylized artistic imagery, and archival photos and footage, the film gently captures the presence of love in both grand narratives and quiet, everyday moments. Each story is emotionally distinct, offering a window into how love takes shape differently across age, time, and experience. Paths of Love invites viewers to reflect on the presence of love all around us; in memory, in chance encounters, and in everyday gestures.

“A beautiful and sincere film, somewhat uneven, but because of its emotional openness it deserves high praise.”

Postal hero

Corina Kovačić; Independent; Croatia

The movie Postal Hero is a symbol of life and its flow. A combination of past, present, future, but also eternity. A depiction of something we are all familiar with, the circle of life. … My grandfather Stjepan Mezga died young and I decided to fill the void in our relationship with something we have in common: film and photography.

“Authentic and purposeful. Very nicely conceived; executed with a projector and old photographs. I like that there aren’t many interviews or information about who her grandfather was as a person; we don’t get to know him through the film, but only see photographs, just as she didn’t know him herself.”

Racism still exists

Group, Liceo Scientifico Statale “Filippo Lussana” di Bergamo, Italy

A student, thanks to an American professor from Texas, discovers what the word racism means.

“A valuable film that conveys a lived experience of racism that is important to hear about today. Production-wise excellent, feels like the beginning of a feature-length film—you want to see more. Very good…”
