DUFF 2024. Winners

The 13th DUFF – Dubrovnik Film Festival for Children and Young People from the Mediterranean – concluded with the Awards Ceremony held at Kino Sloboda on 20 October 2024.

A total of 52 films competed for one of the Festival’s ten awards. The winners were selected by the International Jury, comprising Norwegian film director Aurora Gosse, producer Dino Krpan, and actor Nikša Butijer.

The Grand Prix of the 13th DUFF was awarded to A New Beginning, directed by Andjela Džaferović, a student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

The award for Best Animated Film in the Up to 15 Years category went to Summer from Space, created by Dora Bosnić, Juraj Car, Vid Car, Magdalena Mileusnić, Gabriel Oršić, and Simona Sermazi from FKVK Zaprešić. In the Ages 16–20 category, the award was presented to Get Drunk by Max Antoine Nicolas of the Gobelins School from France.

The award for Best Fiction Film in the Up to 15 Years category went to the Italian film Shall We Leave?, created by young filmmakers from I.C. Margherita Hack di Cernusco sul Naviglio. In the Ages 16–20 category, the award was presented to The Tape by Spanish filmmaker Pablo Iranz Pineda.

The award for Best Documentary Film in the Up to 15 Years category went to Gently, Quietly, created by Marta Ciglar, Ania Čekunec, Nika Drk, Laura Palfi, Iva Puklek, and Neli Tkalčec from Tomaš Goričanec Primary School in Mala Subotica. In the Ages 16–20 category, the award was presented to Silence, produced by the School of Graphic Design and Media Production in Zagreb.

The award for Best Film in the Open Category went to Three Colours by Lana Gredelj from Stjepan Kefelja Primary School in Kutina.

The award for Best Film in the Thematic Category, which this year focused on the theme of friendship, went to Soap Bubbles by Spanish filmmaker Pablo Iranzo Pineda.

The Audience Award went to Burned Out, produced by the Spanish film association L’Idem Barcelona. The winner was chosen by audiences attending screenings at Kino Sloboda, as well as by viewers who cast their votes through the Festival’s online platform.

The Festival’s Closing Ceremony also featured the premiere of two short films created during the fiction and animation workshops held throughout the Festival.

At the conclusion of another successful edition of DUFF, the organisers – Dubrovnik Cinemas and the Šipan Summer Film School – thanked everyone who helped make this wonderful festival journey possible, with special appreciation for the Festival’s volunteers.
