WONDERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Bruna Benčić, Ivor Benčić; 5’22”; FKVK Zaprešić; Croatia

At first we wanted to make a film only about the solar system, but we expanded the subject a bit. Approximately to the whole Universe. In the film, we discovered only some of the wonders of the universe, but there are still many more undiscovered.
“Cool story and animation, a good blend of techniques.”

MUSIC CAN DO ANYTHING

Vlatka Ignac, Nina Oršuš, Lena Branilović, Loris Posavec; 8’33”; OŠ dr. Ivana Novaka Macinec; Croatia

Music is an integral part of everyone’s life. Births and all important events are celebrated with music, people pass away with music. Music has a significant role in the Roma community as well. In this film we get to know two generations of musicians, the older and more experienced ones, and younger ones that nurture their love towards music alongside their elders.
“Simultaneously addressing two important topics from our everyday lives, incorporated into a very well-made documentary.”

THINKING DOES NOT HELP WHEN WALKING

Grupa autora / Group of authors; 9’35”; OŠ Bartol Kašić; Croatia

The TV report tells the story of Antonija Gašperov, who is involved in highline. What is a highline, what does it feel like to walk in heights only on a strip, what pulls it to heights… these are just some of the questions that interested us.
“An excellent interview about an interesting and extreme sport, focusing on a female athlete who practices it. We get an insight into the physical and mental preparation of the walker, as well as how the line is set up and how crucial safety is before and during the walk.”

TO THE DOORSTEP

Fran Tukša; 8’19”; OŠ Sveti Petar Orehovec; Croatia

Libraries are predominantly located in urban areas, but for 15 years the Franjo Marković City Library in Križevci has strived to bring books closer to readers in rural areas. They were the first in Croatia to organize a bookmobile service in a van, and librarian Igor Kuzmić receives numerous accolades from users. The friendly librarian doesn’t mind bringing a book literally to readers’ doorsteps.
“A very intriguing story about one of the rare bookvans in Croatia. The film reminds us of how important it is for the youngest of us to have access to books needed for their education, and how, unfortunately, not every child is in a position to get any book they wish. The good deed and the will of one person can change the lives of entire generations to come.”

GENTLY, DISCREETLY!

Marta Ciglar, Ania Čekunec, Nika Drk, Laura Palfi, Iva Puklek, Neli Tkalčec; 6’47”; OŠ Tomaša Goričanca Mala Subotica; Croatia

Social networks have a significant influence on young people. Many girls, by following social networks, encounter a slightly worrying trend that has been named Sephora Kids. Girls are buying more and more skin care products that are not meant for them and their young facial skin.
“A film that raises awareness and questions popular trends on social networks that can be particularly harmful to young people. It’s interesting to see the views and perspectives of different generations. The message at the end is strong and important for young girls who are just entering puberty and the world of makeup and “beautification.””
